Shadow to Champagne

The Opera & Song Collective (TOSC) presents Shadow to Champagne — Strauss & Strauss, a festive afternoon bringing together two very different musical worlds bearing one famous name.

Experience the passion and extraordinary vocal writing of Richard Strauss, with highlights from Ariadne auf Naxos, Arabella, Capriccio and Die Frau ohne Schatten, including music for the Amme, Kaiserin, Die Fäberin and Barak.

Then the shadows give way to champagne as Johann Strauss II takes over, with the wit, romance and irresistible melodies of Die Fledermaus and Eine Nacht in Venedig, culminating in the joyous Brüderlein und Schwesterlein.

Featuring TOSC's ensemble of professional and developing professional singers, with Toby Wong, conductor, and Martin Lijauco, piano, this is an afternoon that travels from operatic intensity to Viennese celebration — and sends the TOSC Stormlight series towards Christmas with a glass raised high.

After the final notes, join the artists for complimentary drinks in the courtyard — a chance to meet the performers and raise a glass to the festive season.
