A blue green and cream Turkish pattern

Monday Matters - The Imperial Ottoman Harems

Imagine you lived in a 16th Century harem. If you were a woman you were either a concubine, a servant, or the powerful mother of the sultan. If you were a man you would have been the sultan or a eunuch!

What would life really have been like in a harem?

Award winning author, Cindy Davies, will speak about her third novel, The Favourite of the Harem, which is set against the intrigues and jealousies of life in an Ottoman harem. It’s a love story between a prince and a slave, based on a true story.

Free event, bookings essential.
