Stormlight

Stormlight brings new Australian opera, song and chamber music to Mosman, alongside works by leading international contemporary composers.

The Opera & Song Collective presents Stormlight: Contemporary Voices, an afternoon celebrating Australian creativity and music of our time.

At its heart is Tristan Entwistle’s new opera, Much Ado About Nothing, inspired by Shakespeare, alongside Michael Lampard’s song cycle At the Harbour’s Edge, music by Australian composer and flautist Christine Draeger, and songs by Tasmanian composer Nigel McDougall, performed by his daughter, soprano Maria Hemphill.

The programme also features music by Ross Edwards, Kaija Saariaho, Thomas Pasatieri and David Tunley, interpreted by an outstanding ensemble including Leah Thomas, Samanta Lestavel, Charlotte Merz, Christine Draeger, and pianists Claire Race and Bradley Gilchrist.

Opera, song, theatre and chamber music come together in a vibrant celebration of contemporary voices.
