Mosman Historical Society talk: Bob Lawrence, 'From Eden to Windsor Castle: The Amazing Life of Sir Oswald Brierly'
Bob Lawrence discusses the life of the prominent English artist Sir Oswald Brierly, who managed Ben Boyd's whaling operations at Twofold Bay between 1842 and 1848 and in 1848 was a shipoboard artist on HMS Rattlesnake, which surveyed the Great Barrier Reef, Torres Strait and parts of New Guinea. His now destroyed painting of the Rattlesnake in a squall was on the walls of The Rangers, a house in Mosman. He was later the official marine artist to Queen Victoria.
Bob Lawrence's well-received biography of Brierly was published in 2017.
