Kristina Olsson at the Library.

Author Kristina Olsson will be speaking about her novel, “Shell” at the Barry O’Keefe Library in October.

“Shell” captures a dramatic turning point in Australia's history. A spellbinding and poignant historical novel, set in 1965 as Danish architect Jørn Utzon’s bold vision for the Sydney Opera House unleashes a storm of controversy.

Journalist Pearl Keogh, exiled to the women’s pages after being photographed at an anti-war protest, has very personal reasons for opposing the Vietnam war. Swedish glass artist Axel Lindquist has his own mission – to create a unique work that will do justice to Utzon’s towering masterpiece.

In this mesmerising portrait of art and life, as the old makes way for the new “Shell” captures a world on the brink of change though the eyes of two unforgettable characters caught in the crossfire.
