MAD! A celebration of Mature Age Dance
Come to an afternoon of films, guest speakers, performance and optional workshop to celebrate how older bodies can move creatively – with energy, beauty and grace.
‘You can’t do everything you did when you were young – but nothing stops me dancing!’ (A Company of Elders dance participant Sadler Wells Ballet – 71)
Did you know that there are groups of older people in Australia, New Zealand and Europe who come together to dance creatively and perform? Many have never danced before. Hear their stories and enjoy their performances on film and live on stage. You can even join in with an easy workshop at the end – although it’s optional it should be fun! Dance is for everyone.
- Film maker Sue Healey who will introduce her dance films featuring mature aged dancers.
- Presentation and film about the impact of dance for those with Parkinson's.
- Performance by the award winning GOLDS dance group from Canberra and Agile not Fragile from Penrith.
- Special guests.
- A short dance session for those who would like to move.
- Afternoon tea.
A not to be missed event for those young at heart!
