Mosman Historical Society talk: Craig Wilcox, 'Australia's Eastern War?'

The grave of Lieutenant General Sir Maurice O'Connell, Australian commander in chief during New Zealand's Northern War, Camperdown Cemetery, Newtown.

The military historian Dr Craig Wilcox discusses the first campaign waged across the sea by a military force from Australia. Troops, transports and supplies were sent from Sydney to assist the British in their conflict with the Maori known as New Zealand's Northern War of 1845-46. He considers what happened in that war and why much of the British war effort was managed from Sydney.
