The Best School of All: the story of Cremorne Girls High from 1926 to 1987 an evening with author, Margaret Gowanlock
The long awaited history of the school has been published. It is a marvellous story featuring memories, rare photographs, architectural plans and ephemera. Author, Margaret Gowanlock and collaborator, Verena Bacchini interviewed over 400 students and staff to collect fascinating memories recording the school’s history through those who knew it best. With teachers of the calibre of Dora Birtles and Dymphna Cusack, it is not surprising the school has a distinguished honour roll which includes author Kate Grenville, flautist Jane Rutter, artist Josonia Palaitis and politician, Bronwyn Bishop.
The author will present an entertaining evening delving into the process of compiling this unique book, the unexpected, the drama and the hilarious stories she discovered.
This free event is part of the National Trusts' Australian Heritage Festival. Refreshments provided.
